FALL ROCKS EVENT TO BE HELD NOV. 5
AT MISSOURI MINES STATE HISTORIC SITE

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 24, 2005 -- Bring the family for an evening of education and fall fun activities Saturday, Nov. 5 at Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Doe Run Co., the event begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The evening will begin with educational songs and stories shared by the "Doe Re Mis," Doe Run Co.'s mining and mineral education team. Visitors can participate in a variety of activities, including a walk-through maze, crafts, spooky mining stories and more. Admission to the historic site's mining museum is free during this event. Refreshments will be served. Guests should bring a flashlight and dress warmly.

Missouri Mines State Historic Site is the site of the former St. Joe Mineral Corp.'s largest mine-mill complex. The site's museum features restored underground mining equipment, a large display of mineral specimens, exhibits on mining history and an audiovisual program on lead mining and the milling process. The site is located on the south side of Highway 32 at the Flat River Drive overpass in Park Hills.
