TAUM SAUK RESERVOIR ON MONTHLY RADIO SHOW

JEFFERSON CITY, MO FEB. 22, 2006 -- Officials from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources discuss developments at Taum Sauk reservoir and proposed changes to the state's dam safety regulations during the next Missouri Resources radio show, scheduled to air Friday, Feb. 24.

Missouri Resources airs at 8:12 a.m. on KUMR-Public Radio, which is a public service of the University of Missouri-Rolla. It is also available on the Web following the air date at www.dnr.mo.gov/audio.

Guests on the program include Kurt Schaeffer, department deputy director and general counsel, and Randy Crawford, section chief for the Water Quality Monitoring Section, Environmental Services Program. They offer an over view of impacts, the current environmental response and stabilization phase, unifying of resource agencies to collect information needed to assess impact, and more. Mike Wells, the department's deputy director for water resources, discusses dam safety statewide and proposed changes to dam safety regulations. Wynn Kelley, a soils scientist in the department's Soil and Water Conservation Program, discusses the role of soil scientists.
