JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 26, 2006 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources would like to again clarify that only the East Fork of the Black River through Johnson's Shut-ins State Park near Lesterville is closed for the season. This portion of the river through the park is closed due to debris from the Dec. 14 Taum Sauk Reservoir breach and ongoing construction. The rest of the East Fork of the Black River below Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park and the Black River is not impacted by construction activities in the park and remains open for public use. While the campground at Johnson's Shut-ins State Park is closed this season, there are numerous other campgrounds in the area that remain open.
