MISSOURI AIR CONSERVATION COMMISSION HOSTS
PUBLIC MEETING AND HEARING JULY 20 IN ST. LOUIS

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 14, 2006 -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. on July 20, 2006 at the Crowne Plaza – St. Louis Airport, Gateway III, 11228 Lone Eagle Dr., St. Louis.

At this meeting, the commission will hold a public hearing on several proposed amendments including 10 CSR 10.6.345 Control of Nitrogen Oxides (NOX) Emissions from Upwind Sources. This proposed rule amendment addressing Nitrogen Oxides sources proposed for construction outside and upwind of the St. Louis nonattainment area to protect air quality. The rule limits NOX emissions of sources around the St.Louis ozone nonattainment area to what the department considers an acceptable level, while providing a more transparent and predictable regulatory process for sources seeking permits.

Additional amendments include 10CSR 10-6.070 New Source Performance Regulations; 10 CSR 10-6.075 Maximum Achievable Control Technology Regulations; 10 CSR 10-6.080 Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants and 10 CSR 10-6.110 Submission of Emission Data, Emission Fees and Process Information. The department requests people intending to give verbal presentations on the proposed rule amendment also provide a written copy of their testimony to the commission secretary at the time of the public hearing. The department also will accept written comments on this rulemaking until 5 p.m. on July 27, 2006.
