WHO: Missouri Department of Natural Resources Director Doyle Childers, Regional Ombudsman Judy Bowman and Chief Ombudsman Scott Totten.

WHAT: Visiting Knob Noster, Warrensburg, Independence and Butler and meeting with city and county officials on environmental issues of local concern.

WHEN: Monday, Sept. 25, and Tuesday, Sept. 26. See itinerary below for details.

WHY: The purpose of the visit is to give Director Childers, Regional Ombudsman Bowman and Chief Ombudsman Totten the opportunity to meet with local officials and media to discuss issues involving the Department of Natural Resources. These meetings are open to the public.

ITINERARY:

Monday, Sept. 25

12: 45 to 1:45 p.m. -- Knob Noster - Knob Noster City Hall, 218 N. State St., Knob Noster

Note: The department will present a $11,690 subgrant check to Knob Noster city officials at 1:30 p.m. The city will use the subgrant to pay for a Phase II environmental site assessment at the What-Not Shop brownfields property located at 101 E. McPherson in Knob Noster. The city will enroll the property into the department’s Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program and use the grant funds to pay for technical oversight during the Phase II assessment.  This ceremony is open to the public.

2 to 2:45 p.m. -- Warrensburg - Johnson County Courthouse, 300 N. Holden, Warrensburg

3:45 to 4:45 p.m. -- Independence - Independence City Hall, 111 E. Maple, Independence

Note: The department will present a $32,000 subgrant check to Independence city officials at 4:30 p.m. The city will use the subgrant to expand the Phase II site assessment at 315 Main Street located in the heart of the city’s tourism corridor.   The city will enroll the property into the department’s Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program and use the grant funds to pay for technical oversight during the Phase II assessment.  This ceremony is open to the public.

11:15 to noon -- Butler - Butler City Hall, 22 W. Ohio, Butler
