JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 25, 2006 -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the Holiday Inn-Sports Complex, 4011 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Kansas City.
At this meeting, the commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed revision to the Missouri State Implementation Plan (SIP). The St. Louis 8-Hour Ozone Nonattainment Area Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) Demonstration will be proposed. The proposed revision will document that the department has reviewed Missouri's obligation to implement reasonably available control technologies on major air pollution sources in the Missouri portion of the St. Louis ozone nonattainment area. It will also certify that RACT controls previously incorporated under the earlier 1-hour ozone standard represent RACT for the 8-hour ozone standard.
The commission will also hear recommendations from the department for adoption of a previously proposed revision to the SIP. This proposed change to the SIP will include the revised source registration permit for Grossman Iron and Steel. The revised permit incorporates operating procedures and record keeping requirements from Grossmans' Sept. 10, 2004 compliance plan that reduces fugitive particulate matter emissions from the Grossman facility. This revision will be voted upon once recommendations are complete.
