JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 19, 2006 -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. on Oct. 26 at the Elm Street Conference Center, Roaring River Conference Room, 1738 E. Elm St., Jefferson City.

At this meeting, the commission will hear recommendations for adoption of a proposed revision to the Missouri State Implementation Plan (SIP). The St. Louis 8-Hour Ozone Nonattainment Area Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) Demonstration will be voted upon for adoption. The proposed revision establishes that the department has reviewed Missouri's obligation to put into practice reasonably available control technologies on major air pollution sources in the Missouri portion of the St. Louis ozone nonattainment area. It also certifies that RACT controls previously included under the earlier 1-hour ozone standard represent RACT for the 8-hour ozone standard.

The commission will also hear routine updates from the Air Pollution Control Program, as well as updates on several more specific issues. Additionally, the program will give a presentation summarizing the air quality for 2006.

The documents are available for review at locations throughout the state:

The Missouri Air Conservation Commission, as provided for under authority of 643.050, RSMo, may adopt rule proposals considered at this hearing.
