WHO: Missouri Department of Natural Resources Director Doyle Childers, Regional Ombudsman Don Summers and Chief Ombudsman Scott Totten.

WHAT: Visit city and county officials in the North Central Missouri communities of Macon, Shelbina, Edina, Memphis, Lancaster, Kirksville, Milan, Unionville, Princeton, Trenton, Chillicothe and Brookfield to discuss environmental issues of local concern.

WHEN: Thursday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 -- see itinerary below for details.

WHY: To allow Childers, Summers and Totten the opportunity to meet with local officials to discuss issues involving the Department of Natural Resources. All meetings are open to the public.

9-10 a.m. -- Meeting at the Macon City Hall, 106 W. Bourke, to include a presentation of a check to the city for brownfields renewal work

10:30-11:15 a.m. -- Shelbina meeting at Hawkins Theater, 516 E. Maple

1-1:45 p.m. -- Edina meeting in the Courtroom, Knox County Courthouse, 107 N. 4th Street

2:30-3:15 p.m. -- Memphis meeting at the North East Missouri Regional Planning Commission offices at 326 E. Jefferson

3:45-4:30 p.m. -- Lancaster meeting at the Lancaster City Hall, 109 W. Washington

8-8:45 a.m. -- Kirksville meeting at the Adair County Annex, 300 N. Franklin

9:30-10:15 a.m. -- Milan meeting at Sullivan County Community Center, 203 N. Market

10:45-11:30 a.m. -- Unionville meeting at the Putnam County Courthouse, 1601 Main Street, Old Soldiers Room, 1st floor

12:15-1 p.m. -- Princeton meeting at City Hall, 507 W. Main

1:30-2:15 p.m. -- Trenton meeting at North Central Missouri College, Ketcham Center, the Sugg Conference Room, 1322 Mable Street

2:45-3:30 p.m. -- Chillicothe meeting in City Hall Chambers, 715 Washington

4-4:45 p.m. -- Brookfield meeting at City Hall, 116 W. Brooks Street, the Fire Barn Conference Room (rear entrance)

Note: The department will present a $21,400 check to City of Macon officials to allow them to assess potential environmental issues at a brownfield site being considered for redevelopment. The site is Baker's Auto Salvage at 28929 Business Route 36 West in Macon.
