JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 27, 2006 -- The Missouri Clean Water Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m., Jan. 10, at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive in Jefferson City.
At the meeting, the commission will hold a public hearing on the draft 2004/2006 303(d) List. Section 303(d) of the federal Clean Water Act requires that each state identify waters that are not meeting water quality standards. The draft 2004/2006 303(d) List includes 82 waters. Of those, 40 waters are new to the 303(d) List, and 42 were on the 2002 List.
The commission will also provide interested parties an opportunity to address the commission on the draft Antidegradation Implementation Procedure. The department developed the draft procedure through a process of stakeholder workgroups. The procedure is required to implement the state's antidegradation rule, which is part of the Missouri Water Quality Standards.
The commission will have a full agenda of other administrative matters, including several appeal dismissal requests and staff updates. For a complete agenda, visit the department's Web site at www.dnr.mo.gov/env/wpp/cwc/index.html.
There will be an opportunity for the public to approach the commission with any questions or issues related to the commission's work. Persons with disabilities requiring special services or accommodations can make arrangements by calling the commission secretary Malinda Overhoff at 800-361-4827 or 573-751-6721.
