JEFFERSON CITY, MO., NOV. 28, 2007 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites the public to attend special "stroller tours" of the Missouri State Museum in the State Capitol through the month of December. Designed for families with small children, the tours will be offered Monday through Friday, with the exception of Christmas day, at 10:30 a.m. The tours are free.

This program will include a 25-minute interactive walk through the museum's exhibit halls on the first floor of the Capitol. The goal is to open the eyes and minds of small children while allowing families to enjoy the museum together. Missouri has a rich cultural heritage and diversity of natural landscapes, showcased in the museum through large dioramas and physical artifacts. Children will be able explore with their senses by touching animal furs, rocks, minerals and artifact reproductions. All parts of the tour will be easily accessible for strollers. Reservations are not needed; just check in at the tour desk on the first floor of the Capitol five minutes prior to the program start time.

The museum is open to the public, free of charge, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, contact the Missouri State Museum office at 573-751-2854 or the Department of Natural Resources toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
