JEFFERSON CITY, MO. JAN. 22, 2008, -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has given a six-month extension to the city of Rogersville to continue support of its Nonpoint Source Pollution Abatement Project.

The department is issuing the time extension to allow the city time to construct and complete five rain gardens, which will be planted with native plants, within the city's park system.  In addition, the city will continue to produce informational newsletters and news releases about the project. The project activities will be posted on the city's Web site and pre- and post-questionnaires will be distributed to measure the information transfer of the educational efforts.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, provided the $5,000 Nonpoint Source Implementation Grant funding for this project under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act.  For more information, contact the department's Water Protection Program at 573-751-1300 or 800-361-4827.
