JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 14, 2008 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources awarded a $61,600 grant to the Normac Sewer District in Camden County.  The district will use the funds to build a septic tank effluent pumping, collection system with a recirculating coarse media filter treatment system.  The new system will serve 44 homes.

The grant funds come from a $50 million bond sale in November of 2007, which funded Governor Blunt's Clean Water Initiative for water and wastewater improvements.  The funds will be used in conjunction with grant and loan funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program and federal State and Tribal Assistance Grant funds.  The project is estimated to cost more than $1 million.

The Department of Natural Resources will administer the grant funds.  For more information, contact the Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or call 800-361-4827 or 573-751-1192.
