KNOB NOSTER STATE PARK BEAUTIFICATION DAY IS APRIL 19

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., APRIL 7, 2008-- Celebrate Earth Day a few days early by participating in the Knob Noster State Park Beautification Day planned for Saturday, April 19. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Knob Noster State Park near Knob Noster. It is free and open to the public.
If you have ever wondered what you could do to help protect Missouri's state parks, you won't want to miss this event. Individuals and groups are encouraged to sign up to help get the park in shape for the upcoming summer season. Three teams will be formed from the participants including the "litter gitters," "trail detectives" and "oxygen planters." Possible jobs will include trail cleanup and maintenance, general park cleanup, flower planting and more. Volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation.
Call the park naturalist to register by April 15. Participants should meet at the visitor center at
8:30 a.m. and bring work gloves, insect repellent and a picnic lunch. In the event of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.
