MISSOURI STATE PARK ADVISORY BOARD MEETS APRIL 18

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., APRIL 14, 2008 -- The Missouri State Park Advisory Board will meet Friday, April 18, at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the park's dining lodge, and the public is invited to attend.            

The board, which was appointed by the governor to advise the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on issues relating to state parks, will receive an overview of the department's Division of State Parks revenue tracking and relevant legislation. Reports will be given on the settlement with AmerenUE over the Taum Sauk reservoir breach, including the redevelopment plans for Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park in Reynolds County, the development plans for the new state park on the Current River and the Katy Trail State Park connection along the Rock Island Railroad corridor from Windsor to Pleasant Hill. Other agenda items include a presentation on potential impacts in Missouri state parks, curation issues at the Missouri State Museum, procedures for reviewing park fees and a flooding update. The Missouri Parks Association and the Missouri State Parks Foundation will give reports.
