CIVIL WAR FILM AND PRESENTATION

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., APRIL 25, 2008 -- Arrow Rock State Historic Site will host a viewing of the documentary film "Bad Blood: The Border War that Triggered the Civil War" and a presentation on Saturday, May 3. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Friends of Arrow Rock Inc., the film will begin at 10 a.m. in the historic site's visitor center.  It is free and open to the public.

In the years leading up to the Civil War, a bloody conflict between Missouri slaveholders and Kansas abolitionists focused the nation's eyes on the Missouri-Kansas border, where history was unfolding on the Midwestern plains. "Bad Blood: The Border War That Triggered the Civil War" is the story of this epic time in our nation's history. The film was produced by Kansas City Public Television and Wide Awake Films. Following the film, Clayton Stubbs, production engineering supervisor at KCPT, Pamela Reichart, writer/producer, and Angee Simmons, producer, will talk about the film and answer questions. Stubbs won a Mid-America Emmy Award for the audio and another with Connie Dover for the musical composition/arrangement.
