JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 6, 2008 – The public will have the opportunity to comment on new upgrades to the wastewater system at Harry S Truman State Park near Warsaw, according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

The improvements will include upgrades to the lagoon system serving the campground and the one serving the marina and day-use area. Both lagoon systems will have the seals reconstructed to ensure they have a proper seal. Land application systems with an irrigation pump and irrigation field will also be constructed at each site.

The land application system for the campground lagoon will be located across the road northwest of the lagoons. The land application system for the marina lagoon will be located in the area immediately southwest of the lagoons.

This project is part of a continuing effort to upgrade water and wastewater systems in Missouri state parks and historic sites.

The public will have the opportunity to see details of the proposed project and provide comments. The project will be on display until May 16 in the park’s visitor center at 28761 State Park Road, Warsaw, MO 65355. The proposal is also available online at www.mostateparks.com/trumanpark.htm.

Total cost of the project is $370,000. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is providing 55 percent of the funding for the project. The remaining funding will be from the Department of Natural Resources parks, soil and water sales tax.

Harry S Truman State Park is located on Route UU just 2.5 miles north of Missouri Highway 7.
