Field Services Division -
Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission
The mission of the Field Services Division is consistent and efficient delivery of services closest to where Missourians live and work, to protect the state’s air, land, and water resources through timely compliance assistance, inspections and interaction with citizens.

Vision
The Field Services Division will use increased productivity and efficiency to assist Missourians in becoming more effective stewards of the state’s natural resources. The division will closely and willingly cooperate with every component of the department, maximizing communication and assistance to positively impact the environment.

Values
Mission accomplishment and the realization of the Field Services Division’s vision depend upon employees manifesting a set of core values that guide our actions on a daily basis. These values determine who we are as an organization, and serve as a road map for all members of the division to follow.

Teamwork: We achieve success by working with others, both within and outside the department. We must look for opportunities to provide better service to the citizens of Missouri by actively seeking to work with individuals in other programs, divisions and agencies. It is imperative that we view our individual roles in light of the department’s overall mission, and in light of accomplishing our mission through partnerships and interaction with citizens and businesses within the state.

Communication: Teamwork demands effective and timely communication. Internally, we achieve success when individual employees seize the initiative and communicate innovative ideas and solutions. Externally, we achieve success when we consistently and effectively respond to environmental issues in a manner that facilitates the exchange of ideas and concerns from a diverse set of interested parties.

Innovation: Increased productivity and timeliness depend on innovative solutions. All members of the division have ideas to improve processes, and these ideas should be explored and cultivated. We achieve success when individuals’ ideas and recommendations are transformed into more effective and efficient business practices. These improved business practices, in turn, make us more responsive to the environment and the citizens we protect.

Commitment: The Field Services Division is committed to preserving, protecting, restoring and enhancing the state’s natural resources, but we are also committed to cooperative work with Missourians. Compliance assistance is the responsibility of every department employee, and should be the hallmark of our interaction both within and outside the agency. We achieve success when we demonstrate commitment to protecting the environment, but also in demonstrating commitment to work with citizens, businesses and organizations to cultivate a desire to be better stewards of the state’s natural resources.

Receptiveness: The size and diversity of Missouri, both in population and landscape, ensure that there are numerous points of view on environmental issues. We achieve success when we sincerely and openly listen to and address each of these points of view. The department’s mission to preserve, protect, restore and enhance the natural resources of the state cannot be subordinated to outside demands, but we must be open to differing points of view in order to devise solutions that benefit both citizens and the environment.
