The Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program is designed to help Missourians buy appliances at lower costs, reduce home utility expenses and benefit Missouri businesses by stimulating sales of energy efficient appliances. To learn more about the program, visit the department's Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program Frequently In order to minimize the time spent to purchase an eligible appliance for a rebate, the department urges consumers to research the federal ENERGY STAR website prior to the launch date of the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program to see what makes and models qualify for the eligible rebate categories.
Here’s how to take advantage of the appliance rebates:
- Reserve a rebate. Consumers may reserve their rebate by any of the following methods:
- Through participating retailers or installation contractors at the point of purchase. Consumers may continue to visit participating appliance retailers and installation contractors to reserve rebates while funding is available. For more information, consumers may visit the website at MissouriApplianceRebate.com or call toll-free to 877-541-4848. (8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.)
- Mail the rebate application form, proof of purchase and recycling certification to the address printed on the rebate application form.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
- Consumers will qualify for a rebate when they meet all of the following conditions:
- Must be a resident of Missouri and 18 years of age or older. Address and age verification will be required.
- Must purchase the appliance on or after April 19, 2010.
- Must be the owner of the property for all appliances, with the exception of clothes washers. Renters are eligible for clothes washer rebates.
- (However, it is noted that the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program does not apply to rental property owners or commercial enterprises. The guidance provided to the states by the U.S. Department of Energy was very specific that the program is intended for personal use in a residence and is not to be used for commercial purchase.)
- Limited to one appliance per appliance category (please see the appliance categories below) per each address up to a total maximum rebate amount of $1,300.
- Purchased appliance must be ENERGY STAR rated.
- Must reserve the rebate and mail it along with all required supporting documentation within 60 days of making the rebate reservation.
- Consumers may be subject to an on-site monitoring visit to verify the purchases.
- Must be a replacement for a like item within each product category (please see the appliance categories below).
- Examples: If you replace an old water heater with a new ENERGY STAR water heater from the list of types of water heaters contained in Category 3 below in the table, the purchase would qualify for the rebate. If you want to recycle an old central air conditioner in exchange for the purchase of a new water heater, this purchase would NOT qualify for the rebate.
- All old appliances traded in must be recycled. Please check with the participating retailer or contractor to see if they provide the recycling service. The purchaser may also turn in the old appliance at an appliance collection center, however, a receipt from the recycler will be required to be submitted with the rebate application. Consumers may use the form below to submit along with their appliance rebate application form.

The department reallocated the number of rebate reservations available in each category. Rebate reservations were exhausted in June for gas furnaces, central air conditioners, and air source heat pumps, but additional rebates were made available for these three appliance types on July 1. Based on historical participation rates, solar water heater, electric heat pump water heater, and gas tankless water heater rebate reservations ended June 30. People who have reserved their rebates prior to July 1 may submit their application for rebate.
At the end of May, Missouri raised most rebate amounts being issued under the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program. Rebate checks will be issued to reflect the higher rebate amounts for all qualifying rebate applications since the April 19 start of the program. New rebate applications also will reflect the higher rebate amounts.
The bigger rebates are the result of program changes made to encourage more Missouri consumers to take advantage of the rebates and to help consumers offset some of the cost of recycling old appliances charged by some stores. The department will issue rebates for ENERGY STAR rated items within the following appliance categories.
| Appliance Type | Previous Rebate Amount | New Rebate Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Category 1: Gas Furnaces | $125 | $250 |
| Category 2:
Central Air Conditioning Air Source Heat Pumps |
$100 |
$200 |
| Category 3: Water Heaters - Gas Storage | $100 |
$150 |
| Category 4: Clothes Washers | $75 | $125 |
| Category 5: Dishwashers (table top models excluded) | $75 | $125 |

Missouri residents should also check with their utility providers for other rebates that may be available for energy efficient equipment and appliances. When other utility rebates or incentives exist, the addition of the new Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate will increase the total amount a Missouri household may receive for replacing their qualified appliances or systems.
